Country Western Theme This Year! (2016)
Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys! But if they are feeling a little bit country, a little bit western, and looking for a hoedown, you’d better send them to the Wine Auction Gala and A Taste of Camarillo Wine, Brew & Food Festival. The Meadowlark Service League began the year with a Country Western theme for the charity tennis tournament and it is continuing this theme at these events in July and concluding the theme with the popular home tour in December.
For those who have been to the last few festivals you might recall the 2014 theme that was “The British are Coming!” with the Beatles tribute band, a Queen look-alike, Cooper Minis and streets renamed Abbey Road and Penny Lane. In 2015 the year-long theme was “Celebrating Our Troops,” which honored all of the Armed Services. The throwback to earlier times featured a Bob Hope impersonator and musical acts that covered Frank Sinatra songs and other vintage tunes. This new country western theme is expected to be even more fun than the British theme and the Beatles cover band that was a major hit a few years ago!
The country western theme begins with an Old West Hoedown in the Red Barn at the Adolfo Camarillo Ranch and continues on the “Meadowlark Ranch” with an Old West motif. KHAY DJ Rick Marino will be the emcee, so grab your partner and mosey on over for some real country western entertainment.
“Alive & Pickin” will perform old-time classics and some new stuff for the dance floor at the hoedown and “California’s Caught Red Handed” will play country music during the festival. Doesn’t get any better than that! (Unless you’re a guy who looks like Bob Hope or sings like Frank Sinatra.)
Don’t worry about the grub though! A Taste of Camarillo will continue its focus on great wines, craft beers and exquisite cuisine. The country western theme is expected to enhance your experience and change it up for those that attend every year. Enjoy the music and dancing while dressed in your favorite pair of cowboy boots, putting on your jeans and snap western shirt, maybe add a bandana around your neck, and don’t forget your cowboy hat!
Lariats, six shooters (even fake ones), Bowie knives, bullwhips, and any livestock or horses will not be admitted. The special “VIP Lark Saloon” will be open to VIP guests where they can sample exclusive wines, brews and food. The “Wet Your Whistle Watering Hole” will serve craft beers to all guests.
