The Featured Homes on the 2015 Homes for the Holidays Home Tour

The 37th Annual Homes for the Holidays Home Tour is coming up this weekend on Sunday, December 13th. We are excited to have you view these four wonderful homes, decorated for the holiday season. Curious about the homes? Here is what you can expect at each residence on the tour:

Squire

THE SQUIRE RESIDENCE Experience a one-of-a-kind palatial Roman villa in Spanish Hills designed by a renowned architect, William Squire, and build by Dirk Squire. This architectural masterpiece, with over 10,000 sq. ft. of interior living space, showcases master craftsmanship integrated with exquisite interior design by Cheryl Collins. This is truly a world-class home with numerous magnificent ornate columns, architectural moldings and marbles imported from around the world. You will be awed by the magnificent entry as you walk upon a custom marble sunburst leading to a drop-down coliseum styled living room. As you gaze outward, the views of the pièce de résistance swimming pool, designed to emphasize elements of the Trevi Fountain are breath taking. This villa includes a dream kitchen, billiards room, theater and artfully designed Italian gardens that surround this phenomenal property. Photo courtesy of Chad Jones.

Griswold

THE GRISWOLD RESIDENCE Visit the 3,200 sq. ft. Country Hills Estates home with a wonderful tradition that embraces the true spirit of the holidays. The mysterious, bright star and tree seen in the night sky each year come from the 108-foot-tall Christmas tree topped with a 12-foot star in their yard. The tree and star beams with navigation style strobe lights and flashes brightly in the sky like a shimmering diamond. Outdoor living is the highlight of this home with its small fruit orchard, massive fireplace, full kitchen, Romeo and Juliet balcony and flowing water fountain situated on a one-acre lot. This incredible home is the perfect place for entertaining indoors and out. Be equally amazed as you explore inside this Country French style home. Walk upon the dark, distressed wood floors and discover a magnificent winding staircase made of oak and iron that will lead you to wonder what other treasures could be discovered upstairs.

Casca front_s

THE CASCA RESIDENCE Explore one of the first homes built in the Quito Park area, with its unique wrap-around porch and chef’s kitchen, featuring a 16-foot seasoned Iroko center island. Appreciate the dining room’s cozy wood siding appearance created by local contractor and painter, Dago Mendez. Be captivated by the collaboration of Dago Mendez and Jone Pence of Jone Pence Interior Design as you discover the master bath with its footed bathtub nestled in a window nook under a sparkling chandelier, walk-in rain shower with inlaid marble tile and custom designed two way cabinet. The home has an expanded master suite with a secondary staircase, dance studio and game room. Outside a swimming pool with a hillside slide and spa, putting green, vegetable garden, and a large dining area under a pagoda laden with grapes and lemons awaits. A dozen full size Christmas trees adorned with collected and handmade ornaments from over the past 30 years will put you in the Christmas spirit. Photo courtesy of Forrest Frields.

Goulet front_s

THE GOULET RESIDENCE This warm, lovely home with a gated courtyard entrance evokes feelings of a cozy country cottage. Inside it is much more than a country cottage. This home has a welcoming feeling as you walk in the front door and look out to the backyard through the large rear windows. A beautiful dining room to your left is where Judy’s Hummel figurine collection is displayed in a corner curio cabinet. Many intimate dinners have been shared with family and friends in this cozy setting. On your right is a comfortable, inviting living room with a cathedral ceiling and a custom made stained glass piece to enjoy. Walk into the spacious great room with a large island that serves well for entertaining and separates the kitchen from the family room. The specially designed kitchen with all its modern appliances is a cook’s dream. The family room has a corner brick wood-burning fireplace that provides warmth on cold winter evenings. The home has three bedrooms and a den that display handmade quilts purchased by Judy and Art on their travels, or made by Judy’s mom. Note the faux painting on the walls in several of the rooms that enhances their warmth. When the home was completely remodeled 10 years ago, it became a customized home that reflects the owners’ tastes extensively and shows the attention and care that they used in decorating with their country décor.
